Nissan at Oragadam - Growing at a rapid pace!!!
The company assembled its first engine on September 2009.
Renault and Nissan announced their intention to establish a joint manufacturing facility at Oragadam (outside Chennai) and signed an MOU with the government of Tamil Nadu in February 2007.Renault now says that instead of receiving Mahindra Renault-badged vehicles built at the Oragadam plant, M&M will instead utilise available capacity at the new Chakan plant and other existing facilities to meet its medium term requirements.Nissan has decided to manufacture it's small car - the Micra at it's upcoming factory at Oragadam, near Chennai and plans to launch it by June 2010.The company has already entered into contracts with nearly 10 suppliers of which around 20 are expected to set up their units in the supplier park. The company plans to achieve 80 - 90 percent localisation and hire 1,500 people by April 2010 whic will be increased to about 3,000 by 2012.According to a further Renault statement, its Indian rival will "evaluate a new automotive plant at Oragadam to further enhance its capacity". M&M' own Chakan plant will manufacture Mahindra passenger vehicles as well as Mahindra International trucks (Navistar joint venture).The Indian and French OEMs both point out that their Mahindra Renault Pvt. Ltd. (MRPL) joint venture that builds the Logan locally is not affected and that their ongoing relationship continues. Indeed, the partners note that they are currently evaluating the feasibility of launching the Logan MCV. The forthcoming vehicles to be built by Renault at its Chennai plant will be marketed by MRPL under the Mahindra Renault brand and sold through the M&M sales channel.

Recently, in a meet Kiminobu Tokuyama, MD & CEO, Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. said that the company had decided to shift the production of the Micra from it's manufacturing plant in UK to India.The planned capacity of the plant is 400,000 vehicles a year and the total investment planned is about Rs.4,500 crore. The investment may not be split equally between the JV partners.As earlier announced, export from the Nissan Oragadam plant is expected to start in the second half of 2010 and the company plans to export 1,10,000 vehicles from this plant in 2011 and to increase it to 1,80,000 units later. The company has already signed an MOU with Ennore port to export vehicles. The company aims to achieve a market share of about 6 per cent by 2012. Akira Sakurai, who was earlier General Manager of Vehicle Production Engineering Division is currently the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd.

The company assembled its first engine on september 2009. It has been recruiting workers with diploma and B.E. graduates from in and around oragadam. By 2010, they plan on releasing their first car. By 2012, we expect that this plant will have a work force of more than 5000.

Satyam - the reputed company faced a crisis this year. As we all know ever since this incident Satyam has been undergoing a tough time. It has been banned by the world bank and many associations. But of late now, Satyam has gained some supports and allies of other industries. I seems Satyam will be back in business in it's usual form sooner than we imagine!!!

Spice Group is ready to invest about 20 billion rupees ($408 million) in Satyam Computer Services and wants to buy a 51 percent stake in the fraud-scarred outsourcer, Spice Chairman B.K. Modi said.

"That is our desire," Modi told Reuters on Friday. "We want the money to go inside the company. For that they will have to make a preferential issue. If I buy shares from the market, the money will not go into the company."

Modi said the group had submitted on Thursday its proposal to the government-appointed new board of Satyam.

"We have also talked to two, three board members informally."

Spice Group has diversified operations including mobile handset manufacturing, mobile software development, back-office operations, entertainment and retail.

Last year, it sold its mobile telecoms services business to Idea Cellular for 21.76 billion rupees.

"That is one of the sources (for funding). But we have other channels," Modi said, adding that the group was capable to fund a possible deal internally.

God Of War is one of the most thrilling and satisfying action games ever made. It is truly an epic adventure.
The game is really very diversified.

FIGHTING: The fighting is fast and fun. Enemies range from bats and dogs to king sized mythical monsters. You can gain experience by collecting the red orbs and upgrade any weapon or power you choose. Your primary weapon is called the blades of Chaos is powerful at long and short range and is really fun to use.

It makes it easy to attack in all directions when you are surrounded by enemies.
The movement pattern developed is really good. The ability to roll with the right analog stick makes it easy to evade. Finishing moves are an another aspect of combat. These vary from splitting enemies to splitting them to the ground and pinning down opponents and delivering the final blow. The main Drawback of some of these moves is that the camera automatically switches to one angle and the impact of the moves comes down to the viewer while doing it again and again. The more advanced finishing moves involve pressing the random buttons that are flashed on the screen. This makes the larger beast battles more dynamic and gives a cinematic finish by enabling you to perform sensational attacks specific to each monster.

GAME: The first thing you while playing the game will notice is that, you have no control over the camera. This helps to maintain the game play maintain a cinematic field and keeps your perspective constantly fixed on the most important items.

However the camera sometimes unexpectedly switches over and makes it difficult to navigate and solve puzzles.

STORY: You are a ruthless warier Kratos. You were serving The god of war who helps you defeat your enemies in a battle that you were about to lose and die. In return you serve the God Of War for all your life.

But the evil God tricks you in killing your own family to make you a perfect warier. But you regret that your whole life and seek the other Gods for redemption. Then you are commanded by the Goddess Athena to murder Ares-The God Of War for his ruthlessness. Here, the story becomes interesting as Kratos is not a traditional hero.

He slaughtered hundreds of men in his lifetime and everywhere you go you encounter people who knows your reputation and disrespects you and fear you. An another feature here is that mythical Gods like Hades, Zeus grant you powers that tie into each Gods' mythology. The story is slowly and interestingly revealed and it is in a top to bottom fashion. Unexpected twists and turns are plenty.

Graphics and Animation: The graphics in God Of War is soo cool and sharp that you will forget that you are playing a PS2. The animation is realistic with a lots of physics and scenic backgrounds. Most places are huge and enormous but takes less time to navigate. The land scape helps in the puzzles.

The solutions often involve operating heavy machinery and destroying huge artifacts. Certain puzzles are time based which must be completed within a specific time period. The enemies who come are random and sudden but the diversity of the monsters who fight is less comparatively as it makes the slashing a repetitive one in some places.

God Of War is extremely graphic. It has nudity and a LoTs of BlOoD. However the extreme nature of Kratos are well grounded in the story and justifies the choices he makes through out his quest. It has a look and feel of a real block buster from start to finish.

With its mighty challenge of the near impossible task for a mortal to kill an evil God, the game will keep you gripping your joystick till the end.

God Of War is one of the most thrilling and satisfying action game ever made. It is truly an epic adventure.
In the first part of God of war the fighting and the thrill gave the game it's reputation to which it stands today.

Kratos the main character of the game made a bound in everyone's mind. He became the talk of gamings. Even though the game is played in PS2 the graphics are really cool and sharp. It's a gaming experience we never forgot.

The sequel of this game God of war II soon hit the market which was also a real block buster. Even though it is also played in PS2 the enemies we fight are it's the coolest game in PS2 and the shortcomings of the first part as per the camera angles and corrected in this part.

This game keeps us at the edge of the nerve throughout. Apart from the puzzle solving and ripping enemies, it also contains certain refreshing comedies such as the ship captain who was killed in the first part at the hydra battle and again even at Hell, returns here as a soal captured by the barbarian ghost. On seeing Kratos he exclaims "Oh no not you aGaIn" and as usual gets killed again by Kratos. This game is finished by a real plan for the 3rd part with
Kratos teaming up with the Titans and moving on to kill Zeus.

God of War III is a forthcoming installment in the God of War video game franchise. It was formally announced at E3 2008, and is expected be released in 2009 exclusively for the play station 3.It is the fifth chapter in the series chronologically, after God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War, God of War: Betrayal and God of War II.

The tag line for the game is "In the end, there will be only chaos".

Although little is known about the game at this point,it was confirmed to be in development by Cory Barlog at a God of War II launch event. He revealed that the game would run at full 1080p HD resolution, and the game would support Six axis tilt and vibration functions. This was stated before the DualShock 3 controller was announced; therefore causing confusion as the Six axis controller did not support rumble. Barlog also expressed an interest in adding a cooperative mode "if we can do something unique with it".

God of War director David Jaffe has said that, "God of War explains, or ultimately will explain, why there are no more Greek myths." He has also stated that it will be "hell on earth" as the gods and the titans battle each other for domination, and that the series will explore the question of whether "man needs god". Though Jaffe and Barlog left Sony for other opportunities,
they are still credited for the series and will possibly be involved in this installment. Jaffe, who co-founded his own development studio, Eat Sleep Play has recently expressed interest to be involved in development for God of War III.

An advertisement for God of War III has appeared on the back of instruction manuals of the retail version of God of War: Chains of Olympus, stating below that the game is 'coming soon'.

On July 15, 2008, a teaser was shown at SCE's E3 press conference. It involves a monologue by Zeus regarding the rise to power of the Olympians and how their rule is now threatened. As Zeus urges his fellow gods to war, the scene cuts from the burning countryside around Mount Olympus to a ruined temple, upon which Kratos stands. Zeus concludes his speech, saying
"ALAS, in the end, he will suffer! In the end, we will triumph! In the end..." at which point,
Kratos cuts in with the game's tag line "There will be only Chaos!".

On December 14th, 2008, the first trailer of game play for God of War III will premiere at the Spike Video Game Awards.

The first two parts contained the coolest graphics in PS2 itself, with the new PS3 setup God Of War 3 is expected to rip the virtual world to near reality!!!

INUYASHA CHARACTER REVIEWS (PART 5) (Naraku's Vicious Gang)

This post is especially for the gang of Naraku-the despicable villan of Inuyasha.

Naraku:

His name means "hell".

Naraku was formed when the evil thief Onigumo allowed himself to be consumed by countless demons. They absorbed into one entity, and this became Naraku. The spider-shaped scar came from a bad burn Onigumo had suffered, and all of Naraku's future incarnations would share this same sign. As one of the most powerful demons in existence, he can regenerate his body, form weapons from himself, release a powerful miasma (a toxic fog), create powerful barriers, controls the demon insects, creates incarnations (detachments) of himself, and create kugutsu (puppets) to communicate with, and spy on others from far away. The white-furred baboon form is such a puppet, which explains why it vanishes when it is attacked.

Inuyasha and Naraku do share one common trait. They are both hanyou (half-demons). This means that there are certain periods when Naraku becomes a full human as well, although he usually hides during these periods, but unlike Inuyasha Naraku says that he chooses this time and he has the ability to reconstruct himself during these periods. Naraku's main goal is to gather the shards of the Shikon Jewel and become a full demon. He will stop at nothing to reach this. He was also responsible for tricking Kikyo and Inuyasha many years ago.

Naraku is first seen in the form of a wakatono (young lord) named Hitomi Kagewaki, who he most likely killed. Naraku has many other forms, as well as incarnations or demons formed from himself. These creatures generally are completely under Naraku's control, and he uses them to do his bidding. Very rarely does he do his own work.

Once he tried to release the original 'Onigumu' part of him, which he called Muso, but it was not a complete success, and Muso was re-absorbed by Naraku. But later in mount hakurai he achieved that and succeeded completely.

Kagura-The Wind Sorceres:

Kagura is the First incarnation of Naraku, and as such, she is deeply part of him. Kaugra despices Naraku as he often uses her as bait and forces her to do dirty jobs for him by blackmailing her with her heart in his hands and threatening her life!. Her main goal is to free herself from his control, yet she must still do as he commands. While she does pose a threat to Inuyasha and the others, she begins to think that it might be a good idea to let them try to kill Naraku. Once she even tries to get Sesshomaru to destroy him for her. Kagura's main power is the wind. She can control it and use it for her purposes. She can also use this power to fly, with the use of a feather. Her powers also include the Fuujin no Mai (dance of the wind blades), Ryuuja no Mai (dance of the dragon snakes - or tornadoes), and Shikabane Mai (corpse dance).

Kanna-The Void:

Kanna was the Second incarnation of Naraku. She is considered to be the sister of Kagura. She appears to be around 10 years of age. She carries with her a magic mirror which can be used to steal the souls of the living, and then take control of their bodies. As powerful as the mirror is, it was once broken while trying to take Kagome's soul, and had to be repaired. Naraku is also able to watch things through her mirror. Unlike Kagura, Kanna is completely loyal to Naraku, and often is responsible for giving orders to the other incarnations. She is void of all emotion and personality. Hence she is not affected by the purity of Mount Hakurei.

Goshinki:

Goshinki is Naraku's third incarnation. He is a huge creature with the ability to read minds and has great speed despite his huge appearance. He is the creature who bit and broke Tetsusainga into two during a battle with Inuyasha.

That is the time when Inuyasha's Demon Nature awakened and killed Goshinki. Later, Sesshomaru finds Goshinki's remains and has one of his fangs forged into the Toukijin by Totosai' abandoned desiple. Even after being forged into a sword, Goshinki's evil nature possessed the sword smith and came to kill inuyasha. Only Sesshomaru can use Tokijin without being possessed by it.

Kageroumaru and Juuroumaru-The Deadly Duo:

Kageroumaru and Juuroumaru are the fourth and fifth of Naraku's incarnations. Jurroumaru is incredibly strong, but he is so uncontrollable that Naraku keeps him masked and chained. Kageroumaru lays dormant inside the belly of Juuroumaru. Juuroumaru obeys only Kageroumaru and not even Naraku can control them. Both of them are very swift. Juuroumaru even outruns Koga. Naraku releases Juuroumaru to attack Inuyasha and Koga, and he almost destroys them the Tetsusaiga is quite heavy for Inuyasha at this time. But eventually Inuyasha kills them.

Muso-Onigumo Released:

Muso was created when Naraku attempted to expel the remaining part of Onigumo from himself. He did this because he was unable to slay Kikyo, since Onigumo's heart would not let him. Muso had the form of a faceless man with a spider scar on his back. He goes around killing many people to take their face, eventually ending up with the face of the monk Muso (which is where his name came from). When he comes across Inuyasha and the gang, he seems to be immune to their attacks and is even able to regenerate himself after being torn to pieces by the Tessaiga.

Soon after, Naraku re-absorbs Muso since he feels that he has not gotten completely rid of Onigumo. He decides to try again later when he is stronger.

Akago-The baby with Naraku's Human Heart:

Akago is the 6th detachment of Naraku who takes the form of a young baby. He was born in Mount Hakurei and carries Naraku's Human Heart. Hence Naraku brcomes invincible and can regenerate infinitely. He has the ability to read minds. He is able to take the evilness of a person and use it to command them. Akago was split in half by a powerful monk (Master Shinsen) while searching for the border between hell and the living world and turned into Hakudoshi and eventually Moryomaru.

Hakudoushi:

Hakudoushi is one of the many incarnations of Naraku. It is believed that he is made of one half of the body made from the human heart of Naruku and was born in Mount Hakurai. His age is unknown, but he is very young. Hakudoushi is very powerful in terms of strength and his use of weapons. He generally uses a spear and can regenerate indefinitly because no attack can kill him (because his heart is safe in his other half's body). He can also summon up a very strong barrier like Naraku, which protects against Inuyasha's Kaza no Kizu. For a while he rode a demon horse Entei, but it was destroyed by Inuyasha.

This detachment of Naraku was originally Akago (Naraku's baby). He had the power to find evil in anyone and the ability to use it to control them. When his powers are used on a dying person, he could see the world between this one and the next. It was his original mission to find a way to enter this world for Naraku. Once when using this power on a monk (Master Shinsen), the monk used the last of his own holy power to split Akago in half. Kagura and Kanna were each given one half. The half held by Kagura grew into a young boy that became Hakudoushi, and Kanna's half remained a child. Kagura discovered that Hakudoushi does not have a heart, and she believes that the baby held by Kanna holds their heart, and possibly even the heart of Naraku! Hakudoushi also holds a special link with Naraku that the other incarnations do not. He often threatens Kagura since he knows of her plans to betray Naraku TO SAY IN A LINE HE IS ALMOST AS CUNNING AND WICKED AS NARAKU HIMSELF!!!

Moryomaru:

Moryomaru was originally a haku (life-force) puppet created by Hakudoshi and then given to Kanna. Kanna places Akago inside of him (giving the puppet Naraku's soul). He is able to absorb demonic energy, and energy-based attacks against him are useless. He can also take this energy and convert it into a powerful blast (a technique used by Goryomaru while they were attached). Moryomaru is now really Akago, and the living heart of Naraku. Because of the Fyoheki stone which was given to Akago, his energy cannot be detected by others. Both Inuyasha and Sesshomaru have trouble defeating him because of his immunity to energy-based attacks.

Byakuya:

Byakuya is the latest detachment of Naraku. He main job is to keep an eye on Moryomaru's growing powers as well as Inuyasha. He uses origami as his primary weapon, and can create illusions. He tells the Dokumizuchi who had eaten Moryomaru's flesh the location of Inuyasha. Inuyasha and the gang first meet Byakuya in chapter 397 of the manga. He introduces himself as "Mugen no Byakuya", referring to his main powers. Unlike Naraku's recent detachments, he seems very loyal.

I am Deepak Krishnan, a student of Sri Sai Ram Engineering College doing B.E. Mechanical.

I have done a project on Accident Prevention And Automation Of Indian Railway System. My project was interviewed by Visu in Makkal Arangam (Jaya TV Talk Show). I've already presented my technology in the Southern Automotive Engineers (SAE) International Mobility Conference (SIIMC) 2008 held at New Delhi. I also have won many gold medals in SAE Student Conventions.

My project technology involves COMPLETE AUTOMATION AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION OF INDIAN RAILWAY SYSTEM WITH HUMAN MONITORING (WITH COST EFFECTIVENESS).

Vaaranam Aayiram is the 7th film directed by Gautham Menon starring---Surya Sivakumar.

Surya has duel roles in this movie!!!

The film has seven songs composed by Harris Jayaraj.The move by Sony BMG was the first of its kind in Indian cinema.

Now after its release its upholding its expectations. With great work out Surya not only shows a six packed abbs and rockin' muscles but also a real motive.The theaters are running house fulled all the days even by showing more than 5 shows per day. The songs are really cool and the most hick is the cast.

Following Kaaka Kaaka in 2003, I can rank this to be the best movie by Surya and Menon.

AJITH~~~THE ULTIMATE ACTOR (STAR): Ajith after Billa-which was a great box office hit, comes back with an another really rejoicing experience named "Aegan". In this movie a dare devil cop who, on behalf of his ailing father and the ambition of a lieutanent general returns to college in Ooty. Whilst protecting the general's daughter, he attempts to reconcile with his step-brother from his father's illegitimate relationship. Furthermore, he has to ward off the international criminal John Chinnappa, who is trying to kill the general, an ex-aide of his who has turned police approver. How the cop manages to solve all three problems forms the crux of the story. Here Ajit proves his talent to take up any character given to him, after the "Varalaru". He shows his gutsn as a daring CID and his romance as an acting college student. He reaches the peak when he also cracks humor out like that he has a big belly to be a college student and hits the laughter of the croud.

CAST:

Ajith Kumar as Shiva. Shiva is a short-tempered, daredevil cop who is sent by his foster father, Karthikeyan,to find an approver, Ram Prasad using his daughter, Pooja. Furthermore, during his stay at college, he falls in love with the chemistry teacher, Mallika. Nayantara as Mallika. Mallika is a chemistry teacher at the college who falls in love with Shiva,although at first she is irritated by him.

Suman as John Chinnappa. The character was initially called Joseph Chinnappa, but Ajith demanded the name to be changed, so it does not anger rival actor, Joseph Vijay. Chinnappa is an underworld don who wishes to kill his old best friend and now approver Ram Prasad.

NPiaa Bajpai as Pooja. Pooja is the daughter of Approver Ram Prasad, who has gone into hiding. Shiva comes to Ooty to find out where Ram Prasad is, through Pooja. She is in love with her collegemate, Narain.

Nassar as Karthikeyan. He is a police man, and a father to Narain. Furthermore he addopts Shiva before Narain's born. Even after Narain was born he cared more for Shiva, which made him and his wife Suhasni sepparate.

Jayaram as Albert Adiya Patham. Albert is college principal of St. John’s College in Ooty. Assisted by his peon, Sathyan, Albert indulges in activities to find out the relationship between Mallika and Shiva. Provides comic relief in the film.

Devan as Ram Prasad. The father of Pooja, who had turned from Chinnappa's best friend to a police-approver. This change had made Chinnappa furious with him, resulting in subsequent attempts to kill him off.

As per the recent reviews the film was expected to be a "Diwali entertainer" but it was then rated as an average ranked. The main problem with the film was the Climax which was termed as "An collosal embarrassment". but lolz no film is perfect and here Ajith has done his job quite well and we expect more and more of this Ultimate star!!! He is a deserving actor and we can't wait for the Billa 2 produced by w.bros that might be a great world wide hit.

motorbike and watches her meet with Greene, learning the businessman is helping General Medrano – who murdered Camille's family –
to stage a coup d'état in Bolivia in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of desert land.

David Arnold, who composed the scores for the previous four Bond films, returned for Quantum of Solace.

Critics generally preferred Casino Royale, but continued to praise Craig's depiction of Bond, and agree
that the film is still an enjoyable addition to the series. The action sequences and pacing were praised,
but criticism grew over the serious and gritty feel that the film carried over.Kim Newman of Empire gave
it 4/5, remarking it was not "bigger and better than Casino Royale, [which is] perhaps a smart move in
that there's still a sense at the finish that Bond’s mission has barely begun".

That's just not it, the film is a big box office hit---in the UK, the film grossed £4.9 million ($8 million),
breaking the record for the largest Friday opening (31 October 2008).

There has been a buzz for the past couple of weeks about Superstar Rajini acting in Shankar's Robot. This has become official now with Ayngaran International CEO Rohan Manickavasagar confirming the news. Says Rohan Manickavasagar and Eros Multimedia will be jointly producing Robot featuring Rajinikanth and directed by Shankar. The formal agreements will be signed soon.

As far as ‘Robot’ is concerned, it is like a roller coaster ride for the movie, as Shankar has been contemplating with many names for his dream project. First it was said that Kamal Haasan would act in it. Then Vikram name surfaced. Post Sivaji, we heard that Hrithik Roshan would be the dream hero. Then came the name of Aamir Khan. Finally Shankar made an official announcement that it would be Shahrukh Khan, who would don the role in his most intimate project.

If Shivaji was shot on a 80 Crore budget, the movie Robot will be produced on a 100 crore budget by Ayngaran International and Eros Multimedia. The sucess team of Shivaji which includes Shankar, Rajini and A.R. Rahman are all set to repeat their magic again in Robot. The rest of the crew needs to be still decided. This is going to be a never seen before Sci-Fi thriller for the Tamil audience.

London-based Ayngaran International, in which Kishore Lulla-owned Eros International picked up a controlling stake last July, is to produce the film. Robot movie has been associated with many major super stars like Sharukh Khan who opted out of the movie due to differences with Shankar. Also ultimate star Ajith Kumar and Amir Khan were also associated with Robot. It is said that Super star will first star in a short-duration project produced by Balachander and directed by P. Vasu before he stars shooting for Robot.

‘Robot’ is all set to become grand and entertaining film ever made in Indian cinema. The movie will be simultaneously produced in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and other languages. ‘Robot’ will have the state-of-the-art technology.

DESCRIPTION: Rin was saved by Sesshomaru with the Tensainga (It was the first time he used it). Ever after Rin follows Sesshomaru as a younger sister. It is believed that Rin brought kindness to Sesshomaru’s cold heart. Before she met Sesshomaru she hadn’t spoken a word to anybody , mostly because of that her parents were killed before her eyes. But she met Sesshomaru in wounded stage and she tried to help him with her innocent ways and later was saved by Sesshomaru and then she started talking again.

NAME: Kohaku:

Age: 11

Roles : Good guys, but mesmerized by Naraku.

Personality: Demon hunter, Naraku’s minion

Description: His name means "amber". Kohaku is the brother of Sango and is around 11 years old. They are both youkai taijiya (demon exterminators) who come from the taijiya no mura (the exterminator's village).

Like his sister, he is well trained in battle. He uses a kusarikama (chained sickle) to fight. As strong as he is, he is still somewhat inexperienced compared to Sango.

When Sango and the other exterminators went to destroy a nearby spider demon, Kohaku was brought for his first real demon hunt. After their task, Kohaku was possessed by the lord of the mansion. He was made to kill the other members of the exterminator tribe. Naraku was responsible for all of this, and he still controls Kohaku's mind.

It is up to Sango and the others to make Kohaku remember the truth, and to free him from the clutches of Naraku.

NAME: Sota:

Personality: Cute, innocent.

Age: 8.

Description: Sometimes translated as Souta. Sota is the Kagome's younger brother. He watches as she gets pulled into the well for the first time while she is trying to find his cat.

After finally meeting Inuyasha, he becomes very fond of him, and sometimes even asks him for personal advice. Once Inuyasha tries to teach him how to be a good fighter.

NAME: Kagome's Grandfather:

Roles: By stander.

Age: nearly 60.

Personality: Funny.

Description: His real name is Higurashi Jii-chan. Grandfather is very knowledgeable in tradition, and the history of the Shikon Jewel. He also knows about the mysterious well that sends Kagome back through time. It comes as no suprise to him when she tells him what she has seen. He is very interested in the stories Kagome tells him from her journey, and he gives her some helpful information.

NAME: Kagome's Mother:

Roles: By stander.

Personality: Caring, responsible, kind, understanding.

Description: She is the mother of Kagome and Sota. They call her “mama”. She is caring and kind. She even treats Inuyasha well at his first sight. Helps Kagome during her tough times of decisions.

Personality: wild, hot, cocky, has crush on Kagome

Description: The leader of a wolf demon gang. Since Kagura killed most of his gang in their first fight, he swore to kill Kagura & Naraku. Kouga has Shikon stones embedded in his legs and can run faster than the speed of wind. He also has a shard of the jewel in his right arm and so he gets great power from it, but he lost it to Inuyasha in a battle in which Inuyasha saved Kouga’s life. Kouga and Inuyasha are rivals for Kagome. Kouga's gang members all respects Kagome and refers to her as the "gang lady - Kouga's girlfriend".

Name: Jaken

Roles: Sesshomaru’s servant

Age: unknown

Personality: He is like an imp or toad, clumsy, short, cowardly and loyal.

Description: Jakan has no known family, but he was once the leader of a small group of... whatever he is. Then he met Sesshomaru, who saved his life and jaken was so amazed by his power that he has followed hive ever since and tries to repay his debt.

Jaken's power lies in his Nintoujou (staff of heads), which was given to him by Sesshomaru. This tow headed staff has the power to shoot both fire and water. It can also be used to detect things and possibly more uses which are not yet revealed. He often rides on the two-headed dragon Ah-Un.

As the servant of Sesshomaru, Jakan follows him around everywhere and eventually even becomes friend with Rin. He is always trying to do things to please Sesshomaru, and he rarely succeeds. He is quite a bothersome character and it is amazing that Sesshomaru puts up with him. Like myoga the flea, Jaken's not very brave either, but atleast he stays at the battle scene most of the time.

NAME: Kirara

Roles: Good guys, Sango's companion.

Race: Neko yokai (cat demon).

Ability: Warrior.

Character Description:

Kirara is a Neko Yokai (Cat demon). In her normal form, Kirara is a small kitten with two tails, but when her help is needed or trouble strikes, she changes into a huge cat with sharp fangs and claws. In this form she can also fly, and carry others. Kirara has no relatives although in one episode there is a two tailed cat with three kittens. In episode 26, there is also a short scene in which a neko yokai is standing with Medoriko- the powerful miko who created the Shikon no tama. If this is indeed Kirara, it would mean that she is quite old despite her looks.

NAME: Totosai

Roles: Good guys

Personality: Dumb, funny but fearless.
Weapon: breathes fire, hammer.

Description: His name means "sword ceremony-preparer". Maker of Inuyasha's sword the Tetsusainga and Sesshomaru's sword the Tensusainga. His pet is a Three-eyed cow. He was a good friend of Inuyasha's father and he has the complete knowledge of Tetsusainga. Inuyasha seeks Totosai's help when he has problems wielding Tetsusainga and to make it more powerful.

Name: Myoga the Flea

Roles: Good guys.

Age: Very old.

Personality: Not brave, knowledgeable of many things.

Description: Sometimes translated as Myoga, his name means "invisible divine help". Myoga is a noma yokai (flea demon) and has been a companion of Inuyasha's father and Inuyasha for a long time. He is quite knowledgeable and often provides Inuyasha and others with the most needed information. He is also fond of sucking blood of humans as well as demons which generally is an annoyance, but can save those who have been poisoned.
Myoga is supposed to be Inuyasha's servant, most likely assigned by Inuyasha's father. But the old flea fleas at the mere sight of trouble and isn't a big help in battles.
He was origionally in charge of guarding the grave of Inuyasha's father, and he was the first one to reveal it's hidden location - in Inuyasha's eye. It is actually a portal to the grave itself

Mobile phone concerns have been raised, especially following the enormous increase in the use of wireless mobile telephony throughout the world (as of august 2005, there were more than 2 billion users worldwide).

Mobile phones use electromagnetic radiations in the microwave range, and some feel this may be harmful to human health.

Some national radiation advisory authorities, including those of Austria, France, Germany, and Sweden recommended to their citizens measures to minimize exposure.

Some examples of the recommendations are:

Use hands-free to decrease the radiation to the head.
Keep the mobile phone away from the body.
Do not telephone in a car without an external antenna.

However, the use of "hands-free" was not recommended by the British Consumers' Association in a statement in November 2000 as they believed that exposure was increased

Mobile phone users should limit their exposure to harmful radio frequencies by cutting the length of calls.

Hands-free devices cut exposure by keeping the instrument away from the head and body.

"The award of the spacesuit contract completes the spaceflight hardware requirements for the Constellation Program's first human flight in 2015," said Jeff Hanley, Constellation program manager at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. Contracts for the Orion crew capsule and the Ares I rocket were awarded during the past two years.

The cost-plus-award-fee spacesuit contract includes a basic performance period from June 2008 to September 2014 that has a value of $183.8 million. During the performance period, Oceaneering and its subcontractors will conduct design, development, test, and evaluation work culminating in the manufacture, assembly, and first flight of the suit components needed for astronauts aboard the Orion crew exploration vehicle. The basic contract also includes initial work on the suit design needed for the lunar surface.

"I am excited about the new partnership between NASA and Oceaneering," said Glenn Lutz, project manager for the spacesuit system at Johnson. "Now it is time for our spacesuit team to begin the journey together that ultimately will put new sets of boot prints on the moon."

Configuration Two will build upon Configuration One and will support lunar surface operations. While preparing to walk on the moon, the astronauts will construct Configuration Two by replacing elements of Configuration One with elements specialized for surface operations. Image Credit: NASA.

Suits and support systems will be needed for as many as four astronauts on moon voyages and as many as six space station travelers. For short trips to the moon, the suit design will support a week's worth of moon walks. The system also must be designed to support a significant number of moon walks during potential six-month lunar outpost expeditions. In addition, the spacesuit and support systems will provide contingency spacewalk capability and protection against the launch and landing environment, such as spacecraft cabin leaks. Two contract options may be awarded in the future as part of this contract. Option 1 covers completion of design, development, test and evaluation for the moon surface suit components. Option 1 would begin in October 2010 and run through September 2018, under a cost-plus-award fee structure with a total value of $302.1 million.

Option 2 provides for the Orion suit production, processing and sustaining engineering under a cost-plus-award fee or a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract structure with a maximum value of $260 million depending on hardware requirements. Option 2 would begin at the end of the basic performance period in October 2014, and would continue through September 2018.

Kamal’s much awaited film ‘Dasavatharam’ will hit the screens on June 13th. Seventy shows are scheduled per day only in Chennai. Adding with the suburbs there would be 120 shows of the film per day. ‘Dasavatharam’s theatre list is considered to be a unique feat which is for the first time in Tamil Cinema. Dasavatharam would be screened in the theatres including Sathyam, Devi in Mount Road, Santham, Abirami, and Padmam in Kilpauk, Sangam and Swarna Abirami. Inox has announced 4 shows but it is likely to increase. In addition to these theatres Albert, Woodlands, Suriyan, Maharani, Udayam, Mini Udayam and Rohini will have regular shows. In the Kodambakkam area Kamala and AVM theatres will screen the film. In South Chennai the open air theatre Prarthana will have two shows. Mayajaal complex has announced fifty shows per day which means that all its ten theatres would screen only Dasavatharam.

Dasavatharam’ had to face many troubles for its release. Now it seems that almost all the troubles are cleared and the sub-titles are getting ready for the film. The producer is making efforts to release the film on June 13th in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. There are also plans to release the film in some other languages. ‘Dasavatharam’ is a high budget film and the shooting for the film was going on for more than two and a half years.

‘Dasavatharam’ will have Kamal donning a comedian character of Poovaraghan, which will one among the ten characters. The sources say that this would be the highlight of the film. Poovaraghan Kamal is sure to make the fans laugh to the great extent. Besides this, there is another highlight in the film. The car chasing scene in the film will have five Kamal Haasan’s inside a single car

The latest news that is doing the rounds in Kollywood is that Kamal Haasan would share the screen with the former Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalitha. The sources say that the seven minute Tsunami scene in the film might have Ms. Jayalalitha, since the Tsunami that ruined Tamil Nadu was a major disaster that made the then Ms. Jayalalitha to swing into action for the immediate relief. When it comes to taking the next "giant leap" in space exploration, Nano researchers are thinking small -- really small.

In laboratories around the country, NASA is supporting the burgeoning science of Nanotechnology. The basic idea is to learn to deal with matter at the atomic scale -- to be able to control individual atoms and molecules well enough to design molecule-size machines, advanced electronics and "smart" materials.

Carbon Nano tubes are used to create these Nano space elevator cables.

These carbon Nano tubes

have 100 times the tensile strength of steel, but only 1/6 the weight;
are 40 times stronger than graphite fibers;
conduct electricity better than copper;
can be either conductors or semiconductors (like computer chips), depending on the arrangement of atoms;
and are excellent conductors of heat.

These tubes are joined together for 65000 km and their outer layer contain a coating of super conducting material which can carry payloads which work like the super fast bullet trains.

On the opposite side of these cables there is a counter weight which keeps the cable erect and straight due to the rotation of the earth.

The counter weight used may even be a space station’s part.

These are energized by a laser beam from ground station which is converted into electricity by the photo-cells in the vehicles

These are the designs of the future and still more research and development is required in these fields…but one can surely expect and even contribute to these futuristic ideas to bhost up its development!!!

This is the continuation of the previous post.....

In particular, IBM is exploring the application of the new through-silicon-via technique in wireless communications chips, Power processors, Blue Gene supercomputer chips, and in high-bandwidth memory applications:

3-D for wireless communications technology: IBM is using through-silicon via technology to improve power efficiency in silicon-germanium based wireless products up to 40 percent, which leads to longer battery life. The through-silicon via technology replaces the wire bonds that are less efficient at transferring signals off of the chip.

Power Processors explore 3-D for power grid stability: As we increase the number of processor cores on chips, one of the limitations in performance is uniform power delivery to all parts of the chip. This technique puts the power closer to the cores and allows each core to have ample access to that power, increasing processor speed while reducing power consumption up to 20 percent.

Exploring 3-D stacking for Blue Gene supercomputing and memory arrays: The most advanced version of 3-D chip stacking will allow high-performance chips to be stacked on top of each other, for example processor-on-processor or memory-on-processor. IBM is experimenting with this advanced technology by converting the chip that currently powers the fastest computer in the world, the IBM Blue Gene supercomputer, into a prototype 3-D stacked chip. IBM is also using 3-D technology to fundamentally change the way memory communicates with a microprocessor, by significantly enhancing the data flow between microprocessor and memory. This capability could enable a new generation of supercomputers. A prototype SRAM design using 3-D stacking technology is being fabricated in IBM's 300 mm production line using 65 nm- node technology.

3-D chip research at IBM
IBM has been researching 3-D stacking technology for more than a decade at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and now at its labs around the world. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has supported IBM in the development of tools and techniques for extending chips to the third dimension, with the aim of driving better performance and new applications of chip technologies.

IBM chip breakthroughs
This is the fifth major chip breakthrough in five months from IBM, as it leads the industry in its quest for new materials and architectures to extend Moore’s Law.

In December, IBM announced the first 45nm chips using immersion lithography and ultra-low-K interconnect dielectrics.
In January, IBM announced “high-k metal gate,” which substitutes a new material into a critical portion of the transistor that controls its primary on/off switching function. The material provides superior electrical properties, while allowing the size of the transistor to be shrunk beyond limits being reached today.

In February, IBM revealed a first-of-its-kind, on-chip memory technology that features the fastest access times ever recorded in eDRAM (embedded dynamic random access memory).

Then in March, IBM unveiled a prototype optical transceiver chipset capable of reaching speeds at least eight-times faster than optical components available today.

IBM moves Moore's Law into the third dimension

Breakthrough demonstrates viability of 3-D chip stacking technique for manufacturing

IBM today announced a breakthrough chip-stacking technology in a manufacturing environment that paves the way for three-dimensional chips that will extend Moore's Law beyond its expected limits. The technology – called "through-silicon vias" -- allows different chip components to be packaged much closer together for faster, smaller, and lower-power systems.

The IBM breakthrough enables the move from horizontal 2-D chip layouts to 3-D chip stacking, which takes chips and memory devices that traditionally sit side by side on a silicon wafer and stacks them together on top of one another. The result is a compact sandwich of components that dramatically reduces the size of the overall chip package and boosts the speed at which data flows among the functions on the chip.

"This breakthrough is a result of more than a decade of pioneering research at IBM," said Lisa Su, vice president, Semiconductor Research and Development Center, IBM. "This allows us to move 3-D chips from the 'lab to the fab' across a range of applications."

The new IBM method eliminates the need for long-metal wires that connect today's 2-D chips together, instead relying on through-silicon vias, which are essentially vertical connections etched through the silicon wafer and filled with metal. These vias allow multiple chips to be stacked together, allowing greater amounts of information to be passed between the chips.

The technique shortens the distance information on a chip needs to travel by 1000 times, and allows for the addition of up to 100 times more channels, or pathways, for that information to flow compared to 2-D chips.

IBM is already running chips using the through-silicon via technology in its manufacturing line and will begin making sample chips using this method available to customers in the second half of 2007, with production in 2008. The first application of this through-silicon via technology will be in wireless communications chips that will go into power amplifiers for wireless LAN and cellular applications. 3-D technology might also be applied to a wide range of chips, including those running now in IBM’s high-performance server and supercomputing chips that power the world’s business, government and scientific efforts.

It all started here: Brain was the first "real" virus ever discovered, back in 1986. Brain didn't really hurt your PC, but it launched the malware industry with a bang and gave bad ideas to over 100,000 virus creators for the next 2 decades.

Michelangelo, 1991
The worst MS-DOS virus ever, Michelangelo attacked the boot sector of your hard drive and any floppy drive inserted into the computer, which caused the virus to spread rapidly. After spreading quietly for months, the virus "activated" on March 6, and promptly started destroying data on tens of thousands of computers.

Melissa, 1999
Technically a worm, Melissa (named after a stripper) collapsed entire email systems by causing computers to send mountains of messages to each other. The author of the virus was eventually caught and sentenced to 20 months in prison.

ILOVEYOU, 2000
This was notable for being one of the first viruses to trick users into opening a file, which in this case claimed to be a love letter sent to the recipient. In reality, the file was a VBS script that sent mountains of junk mail and deleted thousands of files. The results were terribly devastating- one estimate holds that 10 percent of all computers were affected, to a cost of $5.5 billion. It remains perhaps the worst worm of all time.

Code Red, 2001
An early "blended threat" attack, Code Red targeted Web servers instead of user machines, defacing websites and later launching denial-of-service attacks on a host of IP addresses, including those of the White House.

Nimda, 2001
Built on Code Red's attack system of finding multiple avenues into machines (email, websites, network connections, and others), Nimda infected both Web servers and user machines. It found paths into computers so effectively that, 22 minutes after it was released, it became the Internet's most widespread virus at the time.

Klez, 2001
An email virus, Klez pioneered spoofing the "From" field in email messages it sent, making it impossible to tell if Bill Gates did or did not really send you that information about getting free money.

Slammer, 2003
Another fast spreader, this worm infected about 75,000 systems in just 10 minutes, slowing the Internet to a crawl (much like Code Red) and shutting down thousands of websites.

MyDoom, 2004
Notable as the fastest-spreading email virus of all time, MyDoom infected computers so they would, in turn, send even more junk mail. The solution for people caught engaging in this form of cheating has long been permanent cancellation of the account and a lifetime of shame... at least until he or she gets a new account, that is.

But with the rise of Gamerscore and Achievements on Xbox Live, a new form of cheating has become popular: people who manipulate their save files and account information to artificially boost their Gamerscore by unlocking Achievements they didn't actually earn. Of course, neither Gamerscore nor Achievement unlocking will help you actually play a game better—both serve as mere bragging rights... and so they have become something that cheaters have begun to manipulate relentlessly.

Starting today, Xbox is punishing Gamerscore cheaters with some pretty heavy penalties. If you've used a cheat on your account, better check it out to see if you've been affected. How will you know?

Well, your Gamerscore will be reset to zero. You won't be able to regain any Achievement you previously unlocked (legitimately or otherwise), though you will be able to gain new Achievements. And your account will be permanently labeled as a cheater account (see blurry pic above for an example). At least you still get to keep your account.

There you have it. It's like your mom always told you: Cheaters never win, and... well, you know the rest.

The Swiss Family unit, for instance, is connected by a suspension bridge to a special kids' area. The Treeloon unit looks like an Old West saloon, complete with swinging doors. And the Cavaltree, a duplex in the branches, feels like a pioneer fort.

Most of the rooms are equipped with modern conveniences, like sinks and refrigerators, but bathrooms are in a cabin on the ground. Given all the spiral staircases at the 36-acre complex, you have to pity the chambermaids.

Description Miroku is a monk who is seeking Naraku in order to defeat him. Naraku has cursed Miroku's grandfather with an air-rip that has been passed down through generations to Miroku. This air-rip will suck in anything and everything until it sucks up Miroku himself. He is open about his feelings and is often called a 'perverted monk' because he 'feels out' beautiful women. He also asks girls if they can bear his children. He joined with inuyasha to find and destoy Naraku.

Description Shippo is a young fox demon. His father was killed by the Thunder Brothers. In order to get revenge, Shippo tried to steal shikon stone shards from Kagome and Inuyasha, but since he's relatively weak, he got caught easily. Ever after, he's been traveling with the Inuyasha team, to defeat Naraku.

Description Lady Kaede or Maiden Kaede is Kikyo's younger sister. After Kikyo died, Kaede took over the temple maiden duty. Later, in order to control the wild Inuyasha, she set a spell on him, so every time Kagome says "SIT!", Inuyasha falls to the ground.

Description Kagura is a detachment off Naraku. Because Naraku's body consist of thousands of demons, he can give birth to demons, Kagura is one of them. Naraku has control of Kagura's heart and will absorb her back into his body the instant Kagura betrays her. Later on in the series, Kagura decided Naraku must die in order for her to obtain freedom and tried to scheme plans to kill him.

Description Sesshoumaru is Lord of the West who tavels with his servent Jacken, who looks to be a toad demon of some kind, a two head dragan, and a young human girl by the name of Rin. Un-like his half-brother Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru is a full demon wh o shares the same father with Inuyasha. The two brothers are always fighting. When they meet and the first time they do in the Anime/Manga Sesshoumaru's left arm is cut off. The main and maybe only real reason he fights with his brother is because he wants inuyasha's sword the Tetsusaiga, a sword which could kill a 100 demon in one swipe. But there's one problem. He can't touch it. There is some kind of spell on the Tetsusaiga that doesn't let full demon touch it and lets humans, and Inuyasha. So Sesshoumaru for some time stole the arms of humans but none lasted lone enough and he gave up on the whole 'lets play sleat the human's arm' game. Fun, fun. Even though Sesshoumaru seems cold-hearted there are some rare moments when he can be...'nice'. A few times he has saved Rin, like from being killed by means of Naraku or falling off the side of a cliff. He even lets the human travil with him even though he hates humans...

Description Naraku is not a full demon, his original body was built on a man saved by Kikyo. Naraku is Inuyasha and his gang's greatest enemy in the series and is also extremely powerful. Since Naraku is consisted of numerous demons, he give birth to new demons later in the series.

It's important to make sure SIDECAR is fully functional before it goes into the Webb telescope, so it's already being used to improve astronomy on the ground. Astronomers are "test-driving" four SIDECARs that were installed in early 2007 in the University of Hawaii's 2.2 meter telescope on Mauna Kea. Since then they have been collecting science data and giving scientists experience in operating the SIDECAR so that its performance is optimal by the time that the Webb telescope flies.As a result of SIDECAR's success in the review and in ground-based telescopes other missions are planning to use it, and there's a plan to install it in the Hubble Space Telescope in 2008.

These instruments all use highly sensitive infrared detectors to study distant stars, planets, and galaxies.Infrared light is a band of light on the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than radio waves, and cannot be seen by the naked eye."The significant technical advancement in the SIDECAR is its very low noise (or interference with the data or images it's gathering) - the analog to digital conversion is nearly perfect, adding no significant noise; and its very low power - the SIDECAR consumes only 11milliwatts of power," said Markus Loose, lead designer of the SIDECAR at Teledyne. Low consumption of power is important for keeping the telescope's science instruments cold (37 Kelvin, or minus 400 F) as they collect faint (heat) signals from objects near the edge of the universe.

'SIDECAR' Drives Webb Telescope's Signal"

This image of star forming regions in Orion and S-140 was taken with the Univ. Hawaii’s 2.2 meter telescope and processed with four SIDECAR microprocessors.

Many technologies have become so advanced that they've been miniaturized to take up less space and weigh less. That's what happened to some electronics being built for the James Webb Space Telescope that will convert analog signals to digital signals and provide better images of objects in space when they're sent to scientists on Earth. The James Webb Space Telescope being built by Northrop Grumman.

The electronic components on the Webb telescope are called "SIDECAR ASIC." SIDECAR ASIC means "System for Image Digitization, Enhancement, Control And Retrieval Application Specific Integrated Circuit or ASIC. The SIDECAR has been miniaturized from a volume of about one cubic meter (35.3 cubic feet) down to a small circuit that fits in your hand.To understand what the SIDECAR will do, it's similar to what is happening to broadcast television signals when they change from broadcasting analog signals to digital signals in February 2009. Like televisions, the Webb telescope is getting several of those "converter boxes." One benefit digital signals have over analog signals is that digital signals can be easily transmitted and stored.SIDECAR is a tiny advanced low-noise, low-power microprocessor-based control chip that was designed by Teledyne Imaging Sensors, Thousand Oaks, Calif. It's about the size of a half-dollar and can do the same job as an electronics box weighing 20 pounds. Its smaller weight also makes it easier to launch. As the acronym implies, the SIDECAR sits next to the detector like a sidecar on a motorcycle.

Black Hole Spills Kaleidoscope of Color

Shoes may not come in every color, but space objects do. All objects in space, everything from dust to distant galaxies, give off a rainbow of light - including light our eyes can't see. That's where NASA's Great Observatories come in. Together, they help astronomers see all the shades of the cosmos.

A new false-colored image from NASA's Hubble, Chandra and Spitzer space telescopes demonstrates this principle beautifully. The multi-hued portrait shows a giant jet of particles that has been shot out from the vicinity of a type of supermassive black hole called a quasar. The jet is enormous, stretching across more than 100,000 light-years of space - a size comparable to our own Milky Way galaxy! Quasars are among the brightest objects in the universe. They consist of supermassive black holes surrounded by turbulent material, which is being heated up as it is dragged toward the black hole. This hot material glows brilliantly, and some of it gets blown off into space in the form of powerful jets. The jet pictured here is streaming out from the first known quasar, called 3C273, discovered in 1963. A kaleidoscope of colors represents the jet's assorted light waves. X-rays, the highest-energy light in the image, are shown at the far left in blue (the black hole itself is well to the left of the image). The X-rays were captured by Chandra. As you move from left to right, the light diminishes in energy, and wavelengths increase in size. Visible light recorded by Hubble is displayed in green, while infrared light caught by Spitzer is red. Areas where visible and infrared light overlap appear yellow. Astronomers were able to use these data to solve the mystery of how light is produced is quasar jets. Light is created in a few, very different ways. For example, our sun generates most of its light via a process called fusion, in which hydrogen atoms are combined, causing an explosion of light. In the case of this jet, even the most energetic light was unexpectedly found to be the result of charged particles spiraling through a magnetic field, a process known as synchrotron radiation.

Newborn stars peek out from beneath their natal blanket of dust in this dynamic image of the Rho Ophiuchi dark cloud from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. Called "Rho Oph" by astronomers, it's one of the closest star-forming regions to our own solar system. Located near the constellations Scorpius and Ophiuchus, the nebula is about 407 light years away from Earth.

Rho Oph is a complex made up of a large main cloud of molecular hydrogen, a key molecule allowing new stars to form from cold cosmic gas, with two long streamers trailing off in different directions. Recent studies using the latest X-ray and infrared observations reveal more than 300 young stellar objects within the large central cloud. Their median age is only 300,000 years, very young compared to some of the universe's oldest stars, which are more than 12 billion years old.

This false-color image of Rho Oph's main cloud, Lynds 1688, was created with data from Spitzer's infrared array camera, which has the highest spatial resolution of Spitzer's three imaging instruments, and its multiband imaging photometer, best for detecting cooler materials. Blue represents 3.6-micron light; green shows light of 8 microns; and red is 24-micron light. The multiple wavelengths reveal different aspects of the dust surrounding and between the embedded stars, yielding information about the stars and their birthplace.

The colors in this image reflect the relative temperatures and evolutionary states of the various stars. The youngest stars are surrounded by dusty disks of gas from which they, and their potential planetary systems, are forming. These young disk systems show up as red in this image. Some of these young stellar objects are surrounded by their own compact nebulae. More evolved stars, which have shed their natal material, are blue.

The extended white nebula in the center right of the image is a region of the cloud which is glowing in infrared light due to the heating of dust by bright young stars near the right edge of the cloud. Fainter multi-hued diffuse emission fills the image. The color of the nebulosity depends on the temperature, composition and size of the dust grains. Most of the stars forming now are concentrated in a filament of cold, dense gas that shows up as a dark cloud in the lower center and left side of the image against the bright background of the warm dust. Although infrared radiation at 24 microns pierces through dust easily, this dark filament is incredibly opaque, appearing dark even at the longest wavelengths in the image.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., manages the Spitzer Space Telescope mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington. Science operations are conducted at the Spitzer Science Center at the California Institute of Technology, also in Pasadena. Caltech manages JPL for NASA.

Spitzer's infrared array camera was built by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. The instrument's principal investigator is Giovanni Fazio of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

The multiband imaging photometer for Spitzer was built by Ball Aerospace Corporation, Boulder, Colo.; the University of Arizona; and Boeing North American, Canoga Park, Calif. Its principal investigator is George Rieke of the University of Arizona, Tucson.
